The Family Literacy Program enjoyed some summer fun activities in person after 16 months of online Zoom sessions! The children really loved hands-on, lively activities when we connected with them on Zoom but parents were eager to break up their children’s long days stuck at home during COVID lockdowns with some interactive learning and luckily, safety measures could be put in place to do so in the summer.

We sang, we laughed, we moved, we acted out the story “I’m Going on a Bear Hunt”, we explored the park through a nature scavenger hunt, and chased bubbles. On another occasion, we decorated paper baskets, acted out the story of Red Riding Hood in costume, and got to know the local park amenities in the process.

The parents and children expressed a lot of appreciation for having a chance to meet up face-to-face (at a safe distance) after such a long time away.
