Though the pandemic has changed our life, it did not change our willingness to volunteer in the community. A group of newcomers volunteered with the Richmond Food Security Society to gather over 90 kilograms of Asian pears from an owner who volunteered the fruit in their backyard. The fruit was donated to the Muslim Food Bank and was greatly appreciated. The participants commented that this activity was very meaningful. They gained experience as volunteers to engage with the community, helped the owner gather the fruit and shared the fruit with people in need.
